In this crowded compact suv segment Škoda recently revealed its compact suv Kushaq. This compact suv built on MQB AOIN, which is the most widely used platform by VW in India, upcoming Volkswagen Tiagun also built on this platform. In this monsoon season Skoda commenced its delivery and finally Skoda Kushaq launched in India. Kushaq word, derived from the Sanskrit word 'kushak' that means king or emperor, the reason behind this name is Skoda believe that like it’s name this suv really bangs the market like king and also shined in its segment. We already write the first look of car but this time we reviewed it in more detail. Skoda Kushaq offers in active, ambition and style variants with total seven trims, under the hood it gets 2 engine options-
1) 1.0 litre 3Cylinder TSI petrol produces 114bhp of power and 178Nm of torque and mated with 6 speed manual and torque converter gearbox options.
2) 1.5 litre 4cylinder TSI petrol produces 148bhp of power and 250Nm of torque and mated with 6 speed manual and 7 speed DSG gearbox options.
We reviewing the style trim with 1.5 litre 4 cylinder TSI petrol motor which produces 148bhp of power with redlines at 5000RPM and 250Nm of torque with redlines at 1500RPM, this is a petrol motor means this is a big gas guzzler, the 1.5L petrol engine gives us 9 to 14 KMPL fuel economy depending on your driving style. If you drives the vehicle calmly and gentle, the vehicle definitely gives you a pleasure fuel economy. But if you down the paddle crazily, you have to be ready for single digits which is placed on your mid. The vehicle is very fast and also vocal, Skoda claims that Kushaq goes 0 to 100 in just 8.6 seconds which is the fastest in its segment and also fastest in made in India cars. The ride and handling is very good and also balance of vehicle in curves or hairpin bend is very awesome, in all 1.5 litre engines we get active cylinder technology which deactivate one cylinder when it needs and only use three cylinders. The length of the vehicle is 4225mm, width is 1760mm and height is 1612mm. The Skoda Kushaq is smaller than creta in every dimensions but the wheelbase is actually bigger than the creta, wheelbase is 2651mm, ground clearance is 188mm which is adequate and runs on 17 inch alloys. Starting from the front we get typical Skoda grill with some chrome surround there, bumper gets some skid plate treatment with fog lamps on them. Headlights gets led projectors with led drl also, but the indicators and fog lamps are halogen which is a glaring ovation for the kushaq whether it’s rivals offers full led headlamps. Kushaq gets 17 inch alloy wheels which lower trims gets 16 inches, design of wheels is very attractive and unique which personally I like the design. The door handles gets chrome finished with request sensors on it, the orvm is big and comes with electric adjust and retractable function also. Roof is as big as the car and gets silver roof rails, shark fin antenna and a electric sunroof, the tailgate of this vehicle is bit spicy. Boldly written Skoda badging attracts you with the first meet of your car, brake lights get led but reverse lamp and indicators equipped in halogen. Tailgate gets the chrome garnish with dual tone rear bumper. The rear windscreen comes with integrated defogger and high mounted stop lamp with wiper washer too. Design of the vehicle is stunning in all angles and very unique which lots of people buying Kushaq for its quirky design and big stance. Kushaq comes with lots of cuts and crises on hood and all over the body with chrome some garnish on it, that attracts the Kushaq towards you on the road. When looking the car from the outside you thought that the car is very small but after going inside you realise that we get ample amount of space inside this vehicle. Inside this Kushaq we get dual tone interior with gloss black finish too, looking to the dashboard we get very attractive and engaging design. Dashboard gets hard plastic with glossy black finish on it, dashboard comes with lots of cuts and crises with ambient lighting too. Centre console equipped with 10 inch touchscreen infotainment system which gets wireless android auto and apple car play, radio, navigation, media, engine data, phone, reverse camera, vehicle data with my Skoda connect also. Which this Skoda connect gets vehicle tracking, sos, road side assistance, geofencing route tracking and many more. Below that screen we have chrome finished two AC vents with touch sensible air conditioning controls and other vehicle settings. In centre console we get wireless charging pad with two USB’s, we get lots of storage space with key holder and centre armrest. The gear liver is also finished in piano black finish, in cabin we get lots of piano black treatment which is a good but sometimes this is a big fingerprint magnet also. The big attention to detail is that two spoke leather finished sporty steering wheel, the steering wheel gets chrome scrollers, paddle shifters and lots of other buttons to control that small multi information display. The quality and overall fit finished level in the interior is outstanding and very impressive. Coming to the second row, it gets plenty of headroom and knee room which three people seats pretty decent because of that three height adjustable rear headrest. The overall cabin is roomy and because of large windows and that electric sunroof cabin feels very airy. That rear seats can be reclined in 60:40 split, like with the all seats up it gets 384 litres of boot space which adequate and also gets parcel shelf and other toolkit. The rear seats gets magazine holder, two AC vents, phone holder and middle rear centre armrest, sun blinds would be nice touch but the car is loaded with tons of features like, 6+ speakers Skoda sound system with subwoofer, ventilated seats, touchscreen infotainment system with wireless android auto and apple car play, electric sunroof, automatic climate control, engine start stop button, ambient lighting, smart key with keyless entry, auto dimming irvm, automatic headlamps with automatic wipers, paddle shifters, two spoke leather finished steering wheel, cruise control, wireless charging pad with USB’s and lots of more. Like this it gets too many safety features like 6 airbags, three height adjustable rear headrest, isofix child seat anchor point, ABS with EBD, brake assist, traction control, electronic stability program, hill hold control, parking camera and parking sensors, TPMS and more. The Skoda Kushaq offered in 5 colours options.
1) Torando Red Metallic
2) Candy While
3) Carbon Steel Metallic
4) Honey Orange Metallic
The price of Skoda Kushaq starts from 10.49 L to 17.59 L (Ex-showroom), at this budget price range it will compete with Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos , MG Hector, Mahindra Thar , Tata Harrier, Volkswagen T-Roc, Jeep Compass, Maruti Suzuki S-cross, Renault Duster, Honda City, Hyundai Verna and also its upcoming sibling Volkswagen Tiagun. Compared to its rival, yes it missed out some corners behind but because of this aggressive pricing, unique design and that punchy motor this Škoda Kushaq is really great choice in its segment.
